Waterproofing for Water Tanks
Continuous water seepage and leakage in underground and overhead water tanks can compromise structural integrity and lead to water contamination. Reliable sealing solutions are vital to prevent costly damage and ensure safe water storage.
Water seepage and leakage happens due to factors such as:
-
Porous Concrete
-
Lack of Waterproof Coatings
-
Joint Seals
-
Water Inlets and Outlets
Vertex’s Solution
Underground Water Tanks
Concrete Bed
Flood Coat
Vertex recommends applying a flood coat of X4 SBR on PCC or lean concrete bed as the initial defence against rising dampness to fortify the structure against moisture.
Concrete Bed and Walls
R.C.C Modified
Vertex recommends incorporating ROCKPROOF WATERTIGHT (Powder Admixture) into the concrete mix that acts as a durable barrier against moisture making the concrete denser, reducing the water content by 15–30%, and increasing the concrete strength by 20–30%. Additionally, it utilises moisture-activated additives that generate water-insoluble crystalline microstructures and capillary plugging agents within the concrete preventing water seepage.
Fixture Installation
Vertex’s Cementitious Non-Shrink Grout Vertex 1/10 or Vertex 1/50 seals fixtures such as inlets, outlets to prevent water seepage.
Internal Floor & Walls
1: Terrazzo Plaster (Zero Chips Plaster)
2: Concave Coving
3: Primer and Waterproof Coating:
4 SBR as the priming coat and ROCKSEAL C3 as the waterproofing coat.
OR
MB SEALER as the priming coat and MB-10 as the waterproofing coat.
External Walls
Application of ROCKSEAL C8 as the waterproofing coat on the external side to prevent any moisture penetration.
